How to be effective in sharing the good news
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Col. 4:2-6 NIV)
The above passage lists things you need to do to win the lost for Christ. I’ve listed them below as bullet points.
- Devote yourself to Prayer.
- Be watchful.
- Be thankful.
- Pray that God will open a door for the message of Christ.
- Pray that the message will be preached clearly as it should.
- Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders.
- Make the most of every opportunity.
- Let your conversation always be full of grace.
- Let your conversation be seasoned with salt.
And you do the above things for the following reason
And you do this “so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Col. 4:6b NIV)
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15 NIV)
