Remain connected to the vine to be fruitful

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” (John 15:4 NLT)

Life flows from Him

In the above passage Jesus says to be connected to Him in order to produce fruit. That’s because life flows from Him and in order for you to have that life flow into you, you must be connected to Him like a branch connected to a tree. Not only must you be connected to Him, you must remain connected to Him. The fact is, it’s very easy to allow the cares of the world to slip into your life and choke the Word of God. If that happens, you will be like a branch disconnected from a tree and you won’t be able to produce anything.

“But the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19 ESV

Therefore…

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5 NLT)
