Making important decisions
“Who is the man who fears the Lord? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.” (Psalm 25:12 ESV)
What to do when you need to make an important decision:
• Don’t lean on your own understanding
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6 ESV)
• Take them to God in prayer
“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (Jer. 33:3 ESV)
• Ask God to give you wisdom
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5 ESV)
• Seek good counsel
“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” (Prov. 11:14 ESV)
• Listen for God’s promptings
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” (Isa. 30:21 ESV)
• Be led by God’s peace
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7 ESV)
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17 ESV)
