Names of God

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” (1 Thes. 1:10 KJV) 

God has many names and titles in the Bible. Each one tells us something important about Him—His character and how He relates to us. And how we must relate to Him. Here is another one of His many Names, which is Deliverer.

Jesus — Deliverer

Jesus offers deliverance from mankind’s greatest peril—sin, evil, death and judgment. 

·      He was delivered up for our sins

“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” (Rom. 4:25 ESV)

·      He delivered us from this present evil age

“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” Gal. 1:4 KJV)

·      He delivered us from the power of Satan’s reign

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,” (Col. 1:13)

He delivered us from the “wrath to come”

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” (1 Thess. 1:10 KJV)

Therefore

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2 ESV)
