Redeemer
“I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.” (Job 19:25 NIV)
Names of God
God has many names and titles in the Bible. Each one tells us something important about Him—His character and how He relates to us. And how we must relate to Him. Here is another one of His many Names, which is Redeemer.
Redeemer
A redeemer is one charged with the duty of restoring the rights of another and avenging his wrongs (Leviticus 25:48; Leviticus 25:49; Numbers 5:8; Ruth 4:1; Job 19:25; Psalms 19:14; 78:35, etc.). The title of Redeemer is peculiarly applied to Jesus Christ. He redeems us from all evil by the ransom payment on the cross.
Jesus is our redeemer, deliverer, rescuer, and savior
“Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:14)
Therefore
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Eph. 1:7)
“My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed.” (Psalm 71:23)
