God comforts us to comfort others

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Cor. 1:3-4 NIV)

We can comfort others with God’s comfort

The above passage tells us that “we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”in other words, God not only comforts us when we need comfort, He gives us extra comfort to comfort others with.

Comfort: The easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress. Solace, condolence, sympathy, commiseration; support, reassurance, cheer.

God’s rod and staff comforts

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NIV)

Comfort, comfort!

“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins.” (Isa. 40:1-2 ESV)
