Day 19, GIFT #19 – Give the gift of self control
“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” (Prov. 25:28)
Today, give to others the gift of self-control
Self-control is the ninth of the nine spiritual fruits that the Holy Spirit produces in the lives of born againbelievers. (See Gal. 5:22-23). God produces this fruit in you to be shared with others.
Self-control
The dictionary defines self-control as the ability to control oneself, in particular one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations.
Self-control is to be able to take a step back from a situation and respond in a controlled fashion, instead of reacting in an out-of-control manner.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Tim. 1:7)
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14)
“God has equipped you to handle difficult things. In fact, He has already planted the seeds of discipline and self-control inside you. You just have to water those seeds with His Word to make them grow!” – Joyce Meyer
