God grants you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding

“For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Prov. 2:6 NLT)

God grants wisdom, knowledge, and understanding! When you think about it, you could achieve practically anything if you possess these three qualities.

Here are how these three qualities are defined and how to get them

1.     Wisdom: the quality of having good judgment and common sense. Being wise.

The Bible says, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17)

How do you get it? You ask God for it; “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5)

2.     Knowledge: facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education.

The Bible says, “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.” (Prov. 1:5)

How do you get it? You seek it, “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” (Prov. 18:15)

3.     Understanding: the ability to understand something; comprehension.

The Bible says, “The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.” (Psalm 119:130)

How do you get it? You incline your heart to it. “Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding,” (Prov. 2:2)

Quote:

“Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. – Charles Spurgeon

Jesus increased in wisdom and so should you!

“And Jesus increased in wisdom.” (Luke 2:52a) “As he is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17b NIV)

Jesus had to grow up from a newborn baby to an adult, increasing gradually to maturity, just like all other human beings do. Luke 2:52, says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Notice that This verse says that Jesus increased in four distinct areas:

1. Wisdom (mentally)

2. stature (physically)

3. favor with God (spiritually)

4. and man (socially)

It was a wonderful balanced life!

In order to live a balanced life, you too must increase in all four of these areas just like Jesus did. Over the next four days, I will discuss each of these areas.

Today I will discuss the first one, which is wisdom. “And Jesus increased in wisdom…” (Luke 2:52a)

Wisdom

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. (James. 3:17)

Wisdom blesses you with its many benefits

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed. By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place.” (Prov. 3:13-19)

Ask God for it

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Prov. 2:6)

God gives you wisdom when you ask for it, and oh the benefits!

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5 NIV)

The Bible says that God WILL “generously give you wisdom” if you simply ASK Him for it without wavering (James 1:5-6).

That is a very important promise for you to take advantage of!

Just look at all of its benefits listed in Proverbs 3:13-19

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.” (Proverbs 3:13–18 NIV)

 To recap:

1) Better returns than silver and gold!

2) More precious than rubies!

3) Nothing you desire compares with it!

4) Long life!

5) Riches!

6) Honor!

7) Pleasant ways!

8) Paths of peace!

9) A “tree of life”

10) You’re blessed!

Make getting wisdom your principle thing!

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7 KJV)

It’s just that important! ASK God for it, and then you will get to enjoy the many wonderful promises that come along with it!

Therefore

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Col. 3:16 ESV)

“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” (Prov. 19:20 ESV)

A Reminder

*Over the next few days I am posting Bible promises every believer MUST know (and commit to memory) to be fully equipped no matter what they are faced with. Meditate on them and memorize them.

Proven ways to help memorize:

 1.     Hand write it on 3x5 card.

2.     Always include the Bible reference at the beginning and repeat it again at the end.

3.     Read it through several times and think about what it means (mediate on it).

4.     Say it out loud a few times.

5.     Refer to it throughout the day and say it to yourself (a few words at a time if necessary) until you can say it correctly without looking.
